1/23/22 Telehealth Update for 2022:
Although almost all insurance companies have ended the emergency authorization of coverage for Telehealth during the Pandemic on 1/1/22, THERE HAS BEEN AN EMERGENCY EXTENSION OF COVERAGE THROUGH APRIL 16, 2022.
WE WILL CONTINUE TELEHEALTH FOR AS LONG AS THE GOVERNMENT EXTENSION CONTINUES TO COVER IT.
We will continue our ongoing monthly Prenatal Telehealth sessions (regardless of Telehealth insurance coverage).

Telehealth is defined as the delivery and facilitation of health and health-related services including medical care, provider and patient education, health information services, and self-care via telecommunications and digital communication technologies
We are pioneering Telehealth at Kiwi Pediatrics, like many other practices, as we all learn to adapt and now manage a variety of health care conditions this way. We can use telemed to manage most health conditions, healthy child questions, developmental concerns and for a multitude of other needs. We use all of the following methods: telephone, emails and messaging, photos, video recordings, and video conferencing. Telehealth is a way for Kiwi Pediatrics to ‘keep our virtual doors’ open. What we mean is, that while we continue see a select set of children in person for ‘essential services’ during Covid-19, our overall in office visit rate has declined dramatically. This is a product of our success in the Bay Area in that shelter-in-place is working and we have not yet seen a surge! We have also actively reduced in person vists. This protects you if you need to come in and protects our staff too.
Kiwi is open: Kiwi always has a provider and staff in the office Mondays through Fridays, and Saturdays too.
Kiwi is an independant practice. With the aid of Telehealth we will be able to continue to work with your family and to survive this economic downturn and hardship. Please continue to support us during this time as we are here to continue to support you. Please know that telehealth is a covered benefit during covid-19 and insurance companies will be billed for the visits, though most families will not be billed.
